Nurturing Transitions

 

 

 

"We first got to know Kara as students in her Newborn Parenting class at CPMC. We were impressed not only by her knowledge and experience but also by her calm and supportive attitude. We have been so fortunate to have Kara in our transition to parenthood. She's been a great support for breastfeeding which can be so tricky at first. She worked with me to ensure we had a good latch and proper positioning and to help me read my baby's cues. Kara has been invaluable with her knowledge and emotional support, helping to give me confidence even with simple things like bathing my baby and trimming his nails. She is also concerned about my well being - she's been able to give me the additional help I need, if it's holding him while I take a nap, helping me a bit around the house with things like laundry, making me a quick bite to eat, running a quick errand for me, or being an emotional support for me on days that were particularly difficult. She has such a wonderful calming and gentle way about her, which is so great for mom and baby - it is hard to imagine this transition without her support." ~Mother of one gorgeous boy, born 4/6/07

 

 

"Much to my surprise, our triplets came home from the hospital within a week of their birth at 36.5 weeks. Kara was our post partum doula from then, lending her calm and joyful presence to this intense time of learning and adjusting. Thanks to her my recovery from the cesaerean was smooth and my first weeks with the babies were peaceful. She helped us to organize ourselves and keep all the babies on a regular schedule. Kara was also my breastfeeding coach, cheering me on all the way. Without her help and support I may not have been able to handle the challenge of breastfeeding three babies. "Kara helped me so much with my daughter Jordan. I felt really comfortable with her around the house right from the get go. I also felt really great knowing that she is an infant care instructor and that she knows infant CPR as well. She is a true natural with babies, and always was able to soothe Jordan, who in my opinion was a very difficult baby to soothe due to the fact that she had colic. Not only did Kara help me so much with Jordan, but she was extremely supportive of me as well. She saw me in tears several times, and I felt like she came to my rescue on multiple occasions.
